The committee recently published the API standard 20L, a supply chain standard, for polymeric seal manufacturers.

Ferguson led a collaboration between 70 companies, including Shell, BP, BHGE, Schlumberger and TechnipFMC, to come up with the standard.

The API standard 20L specifies the requirements for the qualification of manufacturers of polymeric seals used in the petroleum and natural gas industries.

It also outlines quality requirements, testing and inspection requirements for polymeric seals including thermoplastics and thermosets.

‘’It is through the active engagement of our experts in the development of standards and accreditations that help us stay at the forefront of the testing processes and requirements in the oil & gas industry. Neal in particular has played a key role in driving through the latest development of this standards project, demonstrating not only his considerable technical expertise, but also his ability to bring together multiple industry partners to drive the creation of this critically important document,’’ Rod Martin, EVP, Oil and Gas, said.

‘’With the creation and embedding of this referenced API document, we ensure the continued high standards of quality and service in polymeric seals across our industry. I would like to thank all of the individuals and companies that gave their time and supported the creation of this publication. It was truly a team effort,’’ Neal Ferguson, business development director, said.
